Audit on £40m new HQ successfully acheived

Local Conservatives have been calling for an open audit of the proposed move of Northumberland County Council Headquartrers from Morpeth to Ashington and have been sucessful. 

Morpeth Flood Defences Put to the Test

The new Morpeth flood defences have been put to the test twice in the last week following heavy rains.  The Environment Agency twice closed the flood gate protecting High Stanners with river levels rising above 26m at their peak. The dam protecting Morpeth was also put in to use with fire crews out at High Stanners and Middle Greens to pump standing water from roads into the river.

Audit into £40M White Elephant is Needed

Following Northumberland Labour's decision to cancel a full council debate on the £40,000,000 Council HQ move from Morpeth to Ashington, Leader of the Conservative Group, Peter Jackson, has written an open letter to the Chief Executive of the Council, calling for a full external audit.

Lancaster Park Housing Plans Thrown out

MItford Estates plan to build 280 homes, a hotel, a restaurant and roadside services on land west of Lancaster Park have been rejected by Northumberland County Council's planning committee.
